When it comes to buying your domain name for your website, where should you buy it from? All the sites are basically the same right? Wrong. More or less they are. I mean you get the same thing at the end of the day but some companies use nefarious tactics to try to get you to come on board with them. If I were to ask you where I should buy my website name what is the first company that comes to mind? I have a hunch that the company you’re thinking of is GoDaddy. Why GoDaddy? 
Is it because they’re all over the internet and television? Is it because they have racecars? Or because they have controversial and semi-cute driver Danica Patrick as their promotional model? And now they have sexy and super cool Jean-Claude Van Damme? Probably.
Jump on the Internet you see these guys over at GoDaddy and they’re offering $.99 domain names.
Yep that’s a really good deal especially when you go over to a company like Namecheap and their URLs are going for about $11. But here’s the thing with GoDaddy, every time you want to get one of those $.99 domain names you have to go to Google and type in GoDaddy and then you’ll see a banner that comes up that says $.99 domain sale.
Click on that and it will take you to GoDaddy and it will automatically give you the coupon for the $.99 domain… If they want to. The FinePrint says it is one per customer.

Last week I was in the market to buy 10 URLs and figured I would do so through GoDaddy. I tried using the 99 cent code but it would not let me. I have several domain names with them already so I was out of luck. Then I remembered a little something called Customer Service and called GoDaddy directly. I told the rep the URLs I had in mind and we determined they were all available and he quoted me a price. It came to almost $200.
Then I tried asking him to apply a 30% off code I got from www.ScottSigler.com and even that brought it down to about $125.
I said thanks and I was going to have to rethink it.
I went to NameCheap and was able to get the same domains for $88.
Why the price difference? Let’s break it down. Say I want to get a new URL and I go to GoDaddy. I search to see if the domain is available and it is. Proceed to check out and they quote me a price of $18.16 which breaks down to $9.99 for the URL and $7.99 for privacy protection and $.18 for some fee.
But if I get a coupon code I can get it down to $10.16
Ok. Not bad but a far cry from $.99 right?

Let’s bop over to NameCheap and see what they can do.
Same URL and privacy protection and they work out like this- $10.69 for the name, $.18 ICAAN fee and FREE privacy protection for a total of $10.87 out the door.
More than GoDaddy. But wait. I have found a coupon code online so let’s apply that and…
…$9.79
So bottom line…
Where do I recommend you go to purchase your URLs? I get all of mine at NameCheap and when the ones I have at GoDaddy come up for renewal I will be transferring all of those to NameCheap.
